At last, after thirty years of nonsense from
children's charities, therapists and politically-correct educationalists, the
notion that low self-esteem is the main cause of aggression, bullying and violence is
finally being challenged.
It has been driving me potty for most of my
life to see the usual phony experts claiming that, for example, bullies in the
school playground mostly have problems arising from low self-esteem when it has
to be so clear to anyone who knows anything about children that it is, if
anything, high self-esteem that is the real culprit.
No, not in every case; for there are certainly
some children who react impulsively and anti-socially as a result of low
self-esteem. But, in the main, if there are any effects of self-esteem with
regard to those whose behaviours often include aggression, bullying and
violence, it is that they have too much of it!
They have too much esteem for themselves, and
far too little for others.
They have too much esteem for themselves, and
far too little for others.
I can barely express my delight at seeing
this particular politically-correct balloon being burst.
Strange that, Angry Harry. Why is this
particular area so important to you?
Two reasons.
Firstly, I am an experimental psychologist by
training, and it has been absolutely unbearable to watch - for so long - so many
of those purporting to have psychological 'insights' into human functioning and
behaviour managing to gain so much credence with other allied professionals and
the public on the basis of phony, invalid, worthless 'research'.
Secondly, the current self-esteem findings rank well among those others (to
be found all over this website) that are helping to expose the fact that it has
been the SAME politically-correct, supposedly child-centred, largely unqualified
groups of people found working for many children's charities, in the
teacher-training centres, or as therapists, that are the VERY CAUSES of the
negative consequences for society (e.g. teenage delinquency, violence,
criminality) that they CLAIM to be so expert upon.
In the case of self-esteem, these 'professionals' have been pumping it up in
those very people who, if anything, need to have it deflated.
I sleep better at night, by knowing that the
utter incompetence of so many of these so-called 'experts' is gradually
being highlighted
And I am made happier, and I sleep better
at night, by knowing that the utter incompetence of so many of these so-called
'experts' is gradually being highlighted, as is the destructiveness and the
worthlessness of their ridiculous ideology which seems to demand nothing except
blind subservience to a vapid creed of political correctness and the
intimidation of those who disagree with it.
the power that these groups once held is finally
being drained,
However, as with Enron, and now Anderson, and
largely through the same facilitating mechanisms (from the new information
technology) the power that these groups once held is finally being drained, and
the days of having to pander to the phonies who lead them are coming to an end.
And I am delighted!

Self-Love, A Modern Social Disease
Self-love,
a modern social disease Polly Toynbee - concerning
the role of self-esteem - worth reading, because for the past 20 years the
idiots promoting the politically-correct child-centred approach to child-rearing
have been arguing that violence in children - such as bullying other children -
is likely to be the result of low self-esteem, when, in fact, anyone with the
slightest understanding of child behaviour could SEE that the very opposite was
the case in most instances.
So, what has been going on?
they could climb up career ladders and make themselves
sought after by the media by continually mouthing 'politically-correct'
sentiments.
Well, the truth of the matter is simple. Somewhere
in time, about three decades ago, it came to pass that academics in the
educational and social work field realised, consciously or not, that they could
climb up career ladders and make themselves sought after by the media by
continually mouthing 'politically-correct' sentiments.
(And it still goes on today, where, for
example, UK teachers seeking job promotion have to learn the politically-correct
mantras in order to pass their interviews.)
They didn't have to base any of their
understanding - nor their comments - on science, objective evidence or close
scrutiny of the realities to do with the situations upon which they pontificated. They
simply had to toe a given line.
they managed to get much of society to reject the
accumulated wisdom of the generations that went before
The consequences have been disastrous not only
as a direct result of the undue and unwarranted influence that these people have
had, and continue to have, on the educational and social policies fashioned by
government, but also because of the manner in which they managed to get much of
society to reject the accumulated wisdom of the generations that went before -
mostly on the basis of little more than fanciful, fine-sounding nonsense, which
sounded plausible only because it was grammatically-correct and appeared to be
delivered in a caring tone.
Further, many of those now at the summit of
their careers (and who are, therefore, highly influential) reached these
positions by a process which tested the strength of their adherence to the
religion of Political Correctness rather than their brains.
Indeed, if I had to pick the group which
contained the most incompetent, the most intellectually-deficient, the least
insightful, the least perceptive, and the most empty-headed of all individuals,
it would have to be the 'politically correct'.
I would rather listen to the man-hating rhetoric
of misandric feminists
I would rather listen to the man-hating
rhetoric of misandric feminists all day than be subjected to the excruciatingly
inane gobbledygook propounded by the politically correct.
... to get some idea of just how unacceptable and damaging to the
well-being of all of us are the
self-serving, self-promoting antics of the child-abuse industry.
